Designing a Covid-19 response for vulnerable communities in Tamil Nadu, India
Dr. Amrit Virk is working alongside colleagues at the Usher Institute and Christian Medical College, Vellore (India ) to examine how the local health system can better respond to Covid-19 and future disease outbreaks. Through a series of key informant interviews with patients, service providers and local planners, the team will assess the barriers and opportunities for improved prevention and testing. This is the qualitative component of a larger mixed-methods study that also involves an assessment of current disease burden and modelling the future course of Covid-19 in the state. The study findings will inform a jointly developed local response to COVID-19 and mechanism for ongoing refinement of this strategy as the epidemic progresses.
